Doris M Mudore, 86, of Freeport passed away Sunday, October 28 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 31, 1926 in Freeport, to Ora and Elta (Eichorn) Metz. She was raised in Freeport and graduated from Freeport High School in 1944. Shortly after graduating high school Doris met the love of her life. She married John Mudore at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport on May 10, 1947; He died on March 23, 2003. She was employed at John Knobel and Son, Freeport'™s Pabst Blue Ribbon distributer, as a secretary. In 1980 she began working at Contel as a secretary until her retirement in 1990. She was a devout Catholic who was very strong in her faith. She participated in Eucharist Adoration weekly, and was in charge of keeping the schedule and making sure all time slots for adoration were full. She was a member of the Marion Society and donated a great deal of her free time to volunteering. She was very involved in the Freeport Senior Center and worked as a volunteer at the Rock Valley Blood Center. She loved flowers and music, and enjoyed playing cards and going shopping. She was a very involved and loving mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. Doris is survived by one daughter, Kathleen Stucky of Freeport, one son Gregg L Mudore (Donna) of Freeport. Five granddaughters; Belinda (Kenneth) Kostenbader, Christine Stucky, Kacey Mudore (Ryan Seal), Rochelle (Roy) Baker, and Rachael Wyld. Seven great grandchildren; Jacqueline (Brent) Lofgren, Samantha Kostenbader, Noah Gill, Mason Seal, Madaline Seal, Isaiah Baker, and Isabella Baker. Two great-great grandchildren; Trinity Lofgren and Andrew Lofgren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband John A Mudore, and her son John L Mudore. A funeral mass will be at 10:30am Friday at St. Thomas Catholic Church and Father Alta officiating. There will be a 9:00 am viewing prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5-7pm Thursday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, where the rosary will be read at 4:30pm.
