Doris Kilker

Doris Kilker, 83, of Shannon, died Tuesday June 28, 2011 at Provena St. Joseph Home. Doris was born on August 11, 1927 in Ogle County, Illinois, the daughter of George and Ida 'Florence' (Moran) Koning. Doris married Gale E. Kilker on January 23, 1949 in Forreston. Doris was a homemaker and worked on the family farm in rural Shannon. She was a member of Shannon Baptist Church. Survivors include; husband, Gale E. Kilker of Shannon, three daughters; Rita (Larry) Swanson of Shannon , Renee Kilker of Shannon and Rhonda (Joe Kaelin) of Shannon, one brother Larry (Ramona) Koning of Lanark, two sisters; Darlene(Tom) Furst of Rockford, Ill, and Carol Hagemann of Mt. Morris, three grandchildren Jennifer (Mark) Bennett of Mt. Carroll, Matthew Sweitzer of Lanark and Lauren Swanson of Shannon, two great granddaughters; Kayla and Kalli Wilson of Mt. Carroll and two step grandchildren; Jennifer and Amanda Bennett. Also surviving are two sister-in-laws; Ruby Koning of Lena and Doris Koning of Freeport. Preceded in death by parents and two brothers; Willard and Robert. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday June 30, 2011 at the Shannon Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Lehman officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Church. A Memorial fund has been established in her memory. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
