Doris June Ackerman

Doris June Ackerman, 83, of Forreston, died Saturday July 9, 2016 at Polo Rehab & Health Care Center. Doris was born June 8, 1933 in Forreston, the daughter of Myron and Josephine (Gershbaugh) DeWall. Doris married Donald Ackerman on May 4, 1954 in Forreston. Mr. Ackerman passed away on November 24, 1993. She graduated from Deaconess Nursing School and farmed with her husband for many years. Doris enjoyed gardening and sewing for her grandchildren. She was a member of Forreston Reformed Church where she was very active. Doris is survived by three sons, Steve (Traci) Ackerman of Bixby, OK., Kevin (Lisa) Ackerman of Polo, and Keith (Lisa) Ackerman of Chesterfield, MO.; one brother, Dale (Carol) DeWall of Forreston; four grandchildren, Dr. Matthew (Rani Achhireddy) Ackerman, Andrew (Elissa) Ackerman, Ashley Kraklio, and Abbie Ackerman; and one great-grandson, Theodore Ackerman. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 13, 2016 at Forreston Reformed Church. Rev. James Stralow will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Mrs. Ackerman's memory.
