Doris B. Heck

Doris B. Heck, 91, of Freeport, died Monday April 23, 2018 at Parkview Home. Doris was born September 22, 1926 in Gainesville, Florida, the daughter of Charles and Phoebe (Gates) Higley. She married Robert P. Heck on August 17, 1945 in Freeport. Mr. Heck died November 29, 1985. Doris worked as a bookkeeper for General Casualty, State Bank, and Dr, Zinser. She was a member of Bethany United Church of Christ where she was on the Fidelia Guild and was also a Youth Fellowship Advisor. Doris enjoyed playing golf, square dancing, reading and bowling in her free time. She was a very skilled seamstress. Surviving are son, Robert (Alayne) Heck of Richland Washington; two grandchildren, Laura and Jessica; and three great-grandchildren, Laney, Blaine, and Henry. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Holly; three sisters, and one brother. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday April 27, 2018 at Bethany United Church of Christ. Rev. Ted Michalsen will officiate. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Bethany United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Following the burial a luncheon and time of fellowship will be held at Parkview Home at 12:30 p.m. A memorial has been established in Mrs. Heck's memory.
