Donna L. Untersee

Donna L. Untersee, 87, of Cedarville, passed away, Saturday December 17, 2016 at the Stephenson Nursing Center. Donna was born October 1, 1929 in Afolkey, the daughter of Donald and Ruth (Rote) Reed. Donna was a 1947 graduate of Freeport High School. She married John E. "Hans" Untersee on August 6, 1949 in Freeport. Mr. Untersee passed away April 5, 2008. Dona worked as a waitress and hostess at a variety of restaurants in the surrounding area, including the Esquire, Snitzel's, The Red Cedar and Beach's Supper Club to name a few. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Freeport. Donna loved gardening and in later years worked at Lang's Garden Center in Freeport. Donna was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, always making the holidays special. She was especially fond of having the family together for Christmas, showcasing her crown cake and festive decorations. She loved spending time with family and her numerous grandchildren and especially enjoyed attending their activities. Donna is survived by her children, Scott (Barb) Untersee of Casa Grande, AZ., Kurt (Connie) Untersee of Roscoe, IL., Candy (Doug) Diddens, Julie (Tom) Green, Bob (Kelley) Untersee, and Cindy (Tim) Tessendorf all of Freeport; brother, Gene Reed of Cedarville; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer, Kelly, Chad, Shelley, Brook, Kyle, Elyssa, Sommer, Jessica, Paige, Paige, Rebecca, O.J, Rosie, and Daniel; 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Funeral Mass will be 12:00 p.m. Friday December 23, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Fr. Timothy Barr will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery.
