Donald W. Timms, 93, of Freeport, died Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Manor Court in Freeport. He was born August 24, 1925 in Freeport to William and Etta (Britch) Timms. On August 22, 1948 he married Betty Branton in Freeport. Donald served in the Navy during World War II from 1942-1943 while being stationed at Seeadler Harbor on Manus Island, Admiralty Islands, and Papua New Guinea. Donald way employed by Meyers Ford doing body work, in the auto body department. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Freeport. Donald enjoyed fishing the local rivers and creeks. He also enjoyed traveling throughout out the United States with his family and camping. He managed to visit every state in the country. Surviving are his two sons, Todd Timms of Winnebago, IL and Gary Timms of Galena, IL; three grandchildren, Justin Timms and Joshua Timms both of Eau Claire, WI and Jarod Timms of Winnebago, IL; and one step-grandchild Joshua Proehl of Freeport. Donald is preceded in death by his parents and wife. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in Donald's memory.
