Donald W. Hartman, 79, of Freeport died Tuesday in his home following a brief illness. He was born June 3, 1934 in Carroll County, near Lanark, the son of Lailand and Iva (Bellows) Hartman. Donald married Marilyn 'Maudie' Whitish on June 9, 1956 in Lanark, Illinois. Mr. Hartman was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1956-1958. He then served in then Army Reserves. Mr. Hartman operated a Fuel Truck in the Freeport and Forreston area for thirty years. He then was employed by St. Paul Insurance Company, then he was employed by Farm and Fleet. Donald was a member of Forreston United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Freeport Eagle'™s Club 679 and the Moose Lodge of Monroe, Wisconsin. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandsons. Don enjoyed bird watching, feeding his birds and fishing. He was a avid Green Bay Packer Fan Donald is survived by his wife, Two sons; Jeff (Brandy) Hartman of Freeport and David Hartman of Freeport. His brother, Jake (Pat) Rademaker of Freeport. Three sisters; Mary Mouring of Baileyville, Shirley Truckenmiller of Freeport and Betty (Denny) Roberts of Chadwick, Illinois. His Two grandsons; Colton and Brett Hartman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Gregory. A funeral service for Mr. Hartman will be Saturday, 10:30 A.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Visitation will be Friday, 4:00 '" 7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs in Freeport. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Freeport. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name.
