Donald O. McIlnay, 90, of Freeport, died Friday November 3, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph Home. Donald was born October 25, 1927 in Freeport, the son of J.A. and Pearl (Powell) McIlnay. He married Bernadine Davis on October 8, 1949 in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Mr. McIlnay worked as a meat cutter for many years. He was a member of Zion Church of Freeport. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. Donald was an Eagle Scout and in 1971 he was honored to receive the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. Donald was the starting halfback for Rye High School's (New York) State Championship football team his senior year. Surviving are his wife, Bernadine McIlnay of Freeport; son, Donald R. (Cynthia) McIlnay of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughter, Linda McIlnay of Freeport; granddaughter, Jennifer (Adriaan) Tigchelaar of the Netherlands; and one great-grandson, Sil Tigchelaar of the Netherlands. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brother, Ronald. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday November 7, 2017 at Zion Church, Freeport. Rev. Gardy Cronk will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at noon on Wednesday November 8, 2017 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
