Donald L. Moore

Donald L. Moore 74, of Anderson, SC died Monday April 18, 2016 at AnMed Hospital surrounded by his loving family, caring nurses, and expert doctors. Don was born September 25, 1941 in Freeport, IL to Gerald D. and Helen Rinehart Moore. He and Edna H. Petersen were married April 29, 1973 in Wittenberg, WI. Don attended the University of Dubuque (Dubuque, IA) on a tennis scholarship where he double majored and earned Bachelor of Science degrees in economics and mathematics. Don worked for 40 years with Employers Insurance of Wausau. His favorite thing was to be active outdoors: playing tennis, bike riding, fishing and boating. He also had fun indoors, playing euchre, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and cooking excellent meals. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Shannon J. (and future son-in-law Mike Pflug) of Ann Arbor, MI and Kelly G. (and future son-in-law Ben Frye and Ben's daughter, Michaela) of Marietta, GA; and brother Robert P. Moore of Freeport, IL. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister-in-law Rosalie J. Moore. A private funeral service followed by cremation rites will be conducted for the family on Thursday, April 28 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL with Pastor Chris Fischer officiating. At a later point in time, a memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Anderson, SC.
