Donald E. White, 83, of Forreston, IL, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, in his home. He was born July 28, 1931, in Jonesborough, TN, the son of Blaine and Rosa Lee White, and married Verna (Kutz) White on June 3, 1956, at Faith Lutheran Church in Forreston, IL. Don proudly served his country in the Navy from March 1956 through November 1957. Don managed a quarry west of Forreston for most of their working years, and also farmed, even after retiring. He thoroughly enjoyed gardening, and always planted enough to share with others. He loved spending time with his family, and was always the "go to" person for mechanical questions too. As his family would say, "if Dad can't fix it, throw it out!" How true that was! He will be deeply missed by his friends and family. Don is survived by his wife, Verna of Forreston, three children, Gary of Forreston, Mary (Earl) West of Juda, WI, and Sandy (Donny Gianone) of Algonquin, IL, Buddy (the cat who lovingly allows them to live with him), a brother, Gordon of TN, and a sister, Wanda (Kirk) Dedmond of VA, five grandchildren, Amber, Ben, Ashley (Bode) Allen, Scott West and Steven West, two great grandchildren, Rush West and Nora West, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Dale, Carl Ray, and Mac, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and three nephews. A private funeral service for the family will be held at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston on Friday, July 10, 2015, and the burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Please sign Don's guestbook and share a memory at www.burketubbs.com.
