Donald Bingner

Donald L. Bingner, 90, of Freeport, passed away Wednesday January 27, 2021 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born May 27, 1930 in Freeport, the son of William and Mayme (Reeder) Bingner. He was a member of the class of 1948 at Freeport High School, and later earned his GED in 1963. He served in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. He married Linda Herbig (McLain) on December 12, 1982. Linda passed away on March 11, 2013. Mr. Bingner was a long-time employee of Micro Switch, retiring in 1986. Donald greatly enjoyed fishing and boating. He was a longtime volunteer at FHN and helped at Contact, a phone intake crisis line. Don was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. Don is survived by his son, Ronald (Becky) Bingner of Oxford, Mississippi; daughter, Pamela Watter of Freeport; stepson, Michael (Julie) McLain of Freeport; stepdaughter, Kimberly (Charles) Mullins of Rockford; 12 grandchildren, his companion, Janet Kloepping; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Delores, and grandson, Michael Watter. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 30, 2021 at Harmony United Methodist Church. Pastor Eddie Eddy will officiate. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
