Dick Leerhoff, 71, of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away on December 12, 2016 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Dick was born May 13, 1945, the son of William "Bill" and Grace Leerhoff. He spent his childhood on a farm outside German Valley. Dick graduated with a degree in English from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, earned a master's degree in theater at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion and did additional graduate work in technical theater at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. After moving to the Twin Cities to work at the Cricket Theatre, he freelanced at Children's Theatre Company and designed touring museum exhibits and sets for several theaters. Dick worked for over three decades as an exhibit designer at the Science Museum of Minnesota until he retired in 2011. Surviving are his sisters, Lavon (Marsden) Wilhelms and Lucille (Virgil) Diddens; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Merlin. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. also at Burke Tubbs.
