Derek Koehn

Derek A. Koehn, 40, of Freeport died suddenly on Sunday, September 30, 2012. He was born on February 25, 1972 in Freeport, the son of Gary and Sandra (Rowland) Koehn. Derek has worked at the Newell Distribution Center for 18 years. He married Kimberly St. Andrews on May 6, 1994. Derek enjoyed baseball, playing slow pitch softball and riding his motorcycle. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. His daughters were a very important part of his life and he was a proud dad. Survivors include his wife, Kim Koehn; two daughters, Taylor and Lauren Koehn; parents, Gary and Sandra Koehn; sister, Stacy (Greg) Wagner; sister in law Michelle (Ryan) Balsiger; nephew Tyler Balsiger; parents in law Tim and Mary St. Andrews; also many aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his grandparents. Funeral Mass will be Thursday 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. 1400 Kiwanis Drive. Father Art Mallari will officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. at Burke-Tubbs, also from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday. A memorial has been established in his memory.
