Denny Smith

November 10, 1966 — February 13, 2023

Denny Smith, 56, beloved son, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away after a brief illness on February 13, 2023 at his home in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Denny was born in Freeport, IL on November 10, 1966, to Lloyd and Linda Smith. He was the oldest of four children. Denny attended Freeport High school. He then moved to Rockford and attended Rock Valley College. He was a long time employee at Estwing. Denny moved to Colorado in 2016, where he began working at Western Sugar, and was employed there, until his passing. Denny loved music, mostly heavy metal, but also a little county. He loved attending concerts with his friends, and his brother, Tony. Denny was an avid Raiders fan his entire life. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and watching movies of all kinds, but he owned just about every horror movie ever made. His newest passion was paddle boarding, he was also planning a trip to California this summer to learn how to surf. Denny was a great cook and loved to bake. Denny will always be remembered for always having the right words to say, keeping a level head, always being supportive, his willingness to help others, kind spirit, as well as his incredible sense of humor, patience and compassion. Not to mention, the enjoyment he got by trying to give a good scare to his sisters, daughter, and nieces! Denny was proceeded in death by his father, Lloyd Smith and his grandmother, Dorothy Lillge. He is survived by his mother Linda smith. Siblings, Tami (Scott) Huenefeld, Melinda (Tom) Hartman all of Freeport, Brother Tony Smith of Oregon. Children, Jade Smith (Josh) and David Smith of Rockford. Nieces and nephews, Aerile Smith (Jacob), Morgan Cox all of Freeport, Coty Klinger of Rockford and Dylan and Rylie Smith of Colorado. Sister in law, Jill Griffanti of Colorado, and soon to be great nephew due in July 2023. Also, his Colorado "family" from Western Sugar. The love Denny had for his family and friends was undeniable. He will be greatly missed, but will forever be in our hearts! There will be a Celebration of Life on April 30th from 1pm-5pm at Lucky Pines. Please join us to share memories, stories, and celebrate the life of one of the good ones! Cremation writes of been accorded. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Denny's memory.
