Dean Arthur Richtemeyer, 72, of Orangeville, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at F.H.N. Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Leukemia. Dean was born on January 10, 1939 in Eleroy the son of Alvin and Arlene (Stumbaugh) Richtemeyer. Dean attended three country schools and graduated from Lena High School. He drove milk truck for a number of years. He was drafted in the US Army in 1961, spent one year of active duty and served five years in the Army reserves. He took over the family farm in 1963 after the passing of his father. On April 4, 1965 he married Ruth Albrecht in Elizabeth. They farmed together in the Lena area. In 1969, they moved to Orangeville and have farmed there since that time. Dean served 12 years as a trustee for Oneco Township, 15 years on the FSA County Committee, 34 years on the Equity Wisconsin-Illinois Shipping Association and as a Regional Director for Equity Coop Livestock Sales Association for 11 years. Dean also served 15 years as Director of the Community Bank (Orangeville, Winslow, Warren & Lena). He was an avid packers fan, loved to bowl, play Euchre and tell stories, as well as being a history buff.
