Dawn Arlene Gibler

Dawn Arlene Gibler, 89, of Pecatonica, passed away peacefully, Sunday April 25, 2021 in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Dawn was born March 6, 1932 in Ridott, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Mabel (Robinson) Shafer. Dawn married Robert J. Gibler March 19, 1950 in Ridott. Mr. Gibler passed away in 2009. Dawn enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing craft work, and making jelly. Dawn was well known as an excellent cook. Above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving is her four sons, Ken (Sue) Gibler of Durand; Ray (Denise) Gibler of Winnebago, Neil (Christine) Gibler of Winnebago, and Robert (Tammy) Gibler of Pecatonica; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and special friend, Betty Laymeyer. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Deborah Van Matre and Karen Tipton; grandson, Jamon "Jake" Van Matre; son-in-law, Darryl Van Matre; three brothers, and two sisters. Family graveside will take place Friday April 30, 2021 at Ridott Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Dawn's memory.
