David Lee Brinkmeier, 64, former Forreston resident, passed away Thursday September 8, 2011 at his brother'™s home in Rockford. Dave was born on July 17, 1947 to Mervin 'Pete' and Violet Brinkmeier. After high school, Dave went into the Army and served for two years, including the Vietnam War. When he returned home, Dave went to work at Kelly Springfield/Titan Tires, where he stayed until he retired in May of 2011. Dave married the love of his life, Sue Geerts, on November 24, 1973 in Pearl City, IL. Devout Packer fan, Dave also coached baseball in Forreston; he helped with the cub scouts and was very active in supporting the Forreston School District. Dave loved to golf. Dave is survived by his brothers; Gary (Sharon) Brinkmeier of Warren, Virgil (Jeannie) Brinkmeier of Rockford, Michael (Karen) Brinkmeier of Freeport, Kenneth (Sandy) Brinkmeier of Lena and Jeff Brinkmeier of Freeport, sister Lori Brinkmeier of Freeport, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife Sue L. Brinkmeier on June 29, 2010, and brother Daniel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 12, 2011 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston with the Rev. Ben Kappers officiating. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00-3:00 P.M. at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston.
