David Keister

David L. Keister, 66, of Freeport died Friday at F.H.N. Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born September 24, 1946 in Freeport, Illinois the son of Erle and Lorena M.( Schmelzer) Keister. David was a graduate of Freeport High School and a United States Army veteran, serving from 1966-1968. David was a 30 year employee of Chrysler working at the Belvidere plant. He married Rebecca 'Becky' Heilemeier on October 10, 2008. David enjoyed building, working on cars and more than anything, spending time with his family. David is survived by his wife, Two sons, Jason Keister and David Keister Jr.; both of Freeport. His daughter, Gina Miller; of Leaf River. Two stepsons, Thomas J. (Elizabeth) Burdick and David A. Burdick both of Freeport. Two stepdaughters, Laura E. (Jeffrey) Gempeler of Monroe, Wisconsin and Diane Schlamp of Freeport. His brother, Edward Keister; of Freeport and his sister, Marlene (Kenneth) Kostenbader; of Freeport. Also ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents cousins, aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:00 A.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport, Rev. Dennis Jarrard will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs. Burial will be in Chapel Hill memorial Gardens, , Freeport. A memorial has been established in his name.
