David E. Gruendler Jr., 53, of Lake Carroll, died Wednesday March 20, 2013 in his home. David was born on May 29, 1959 in Rockford, the son of David E. and Elizabeth (Wells) Gruendler Sr. David worked at Kelly Springfield and Titan Tire for 35 years. David married Trisha Freel on September 15, 1984 in Lena. David was a member of the N.R.A. He was a former member of the Lanark Fire Department and a E.M.T. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, traveling, being outdoors, hiking, doing family activities especially bonfires. David will miss his dog Roscoe and cat Reeses. Survivors include his wife, Trisha Gruendler of Lake Carroll; mother, Elizabeth Gruendler of Mendota; father David (Joanne) Gruendler of Lena; three daughters; Jessica Gruendler of DeKalb, Kathryn (Patrick) Whitehead of Belvidere and Samantha (Ben) Swanson of Forreston; sister, Elizabeth (Steve) McCarron of Roseville, MN.; Also surviving are niece Karlee and a nephew, Chad, and two great grandchildren, Larissa Gruendler and Jacob Swanson. David was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Visitation will be 5:00 until 8:00p.m.Tuesday, March 26 at Lanark United Methodist Church in the Fireplace room A memorial has been established in his memory.
