Darrel Alan Moore, 70, formerly of Freeport, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in his home in Loves Park. Darrel was born August 4, 1948 in Freeport, the son of Donald S. and Vivian (Burnell) Moore. Darrel served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1971. He married Catherine "Katie" Valencia. Darrel was a member of Freeport Eagles Club #679 and the American Federation of Musicians. Darrel was a member of many bands including; Gary Downing and the Classics, Jason Stone and the Classics, The Bonnevills, We Have Been, Clark and The Westerners, Fourplay, and Juke Box Rock and Roll. He worked at MetLife for many years. Darrel was a food connoisseur, an avid fisherman, golfer, and loved to go for rides on his Harley. Surviving is his wife, Katie Moore of Loves Park; two daughters, Kimberly Gay (Mark Rodriguez) of Loves Park and Mindy Bowser of Ohio; sister, Diane Euler; four grandchildren, Kiley Ishmon, Arian Bowser, Jahad Alaboudi and Hannah Alaboudi. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Harrison "Smitty" Smith; son, Jason Albert Moore; and sister, Donna Mudore. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday September 29, 2018 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Memorials can be made out to Leonard Ferguson Cancer Center in Darrel's memory.
