Darlene A. Snyder, 78, of German Valley, died Saturday November 22, 2014 at F.H.N. Memorial Hospital. Darlene was born on October 14, 1936 in Freeport, the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Busker) Funk. Darlene was raised by her stepfather, George Christjans. On October 25, 1956 Darlene married Donald Snyder in Baileyville. Darlene was a member of Baileyville Reformed Church and then attended Silver Creek Reformed Church. She was a homemaker. Darlene enjoyed listening to the Oak Ridge Boys, attending 39 of their concerts. She was an avid Chicago Bulls fan and enjoyed camping. Surviving is her husband, Donald Snyder of German Valley; son, Duane Snyder of Freeport; four daughters, Diane (Arlen) Heeren of German Valley, Denise (Brent) Fontana of Cedarville, Donna (Tim) Veer of Freeport and Dawn (Michael) Thruman of Freeport; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Jennifer) Heeren, Nikki (Eric) Schoeny, Ashley (Michael) Nebel, Alisha Ditsworth, Katilyn Fontana, Jeremy Veer, Kyle Boland and Michael Thruman Jr.; three great-grandsons, Daylain and Jase Veer and Jacob Heeren. Also surviving is her special companion, Yo Yo. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, and grandson, Jason Veer. Funeral services will be Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at the Silver Creek Reformed Church in German Valley. Pastor Al Schut will officiate. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 also at Silver Creek Reformed Church. Burial will be in North Grove Evangelical Church in rural Forreston.
