Daniel L. Brooks, 78 of Freeport, IL passed away Tuesday June 2, 2020 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was born on December 27, 1941 in Appleton WI. The son of William and Alyce Brooks. Dan and Jule were married on November 28, 1981 at the Church by the side of the road in Rockton, IL Dan was a 1960 graduate of Freeport High School. After high school, Dan worked as a 5th generation meat cutter at Lee's Market. While at Lee's Market he also took on the position as manager/chef at Snitzels in Freeport, IL. In 1981 Dan found his true passion of becoming a realtor and for the next 38 years he enjoyed that profession until his passing. Dan was a past member of the Morning Kiwanis and a current member at the Eagles Club. When Dan was not selling homes, you could find him on Friday's with his 5:05 club, golfing or vacationing at their condo in Florida. But, what Dan enjoyed the most above all was the endless love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You could find him at all of their sporting events being their biggest cheerleader and he always made sure to never miss a game or an event. Dan is survived by his wife of 38 yrs, Jule Brooks of Freeport, IL; children Jackie (Robert) Shaffer of Freeport, IL, Mike (Lisa) Brooks of Rockford, IL and Jessica (Chris) Curry of Freeport, IL. Brother Bill Bickel of Florida; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceding in his death are his parents; sisters Felicia and Shirley Jean; and his best Friend, Dan Frisbie. A celebration of life for Dan will be held 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday July 18, 2020 at the Eagles Club in Freeport. A memorial has been established in his memory.
