Daniel Dixon

Daniel (Dan) Dixon, 73, of Cedarville, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. with his wife by his side. He was born September 12, 1949 in Freeport, IL to Melvin and Florence (McCarty) Dixon. He married Peggy Schwartz on October 8, 1977 in Rockton, IL. He graduated from Freeport HS in 1967, served 4 years in the United States Air Force and worked 35 years at Honeywell, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Cedarville Village board for many years. Dan loved golfing, music, reading, working in the yard and caring for our many pets through the years. He truly enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandkids. Dan is survived by his wife, Peggy Dixon; two sons, Richard (Sara) Dixon and their children Parker and Carson; Jeremy (Karla) Dixon and their children Jeremia and Mackynzie; his brother James (Sandy) Dixon; sister Linda (Greg) Bigus. Also surviving are his mother and father-in-law Mary and Orvin Schwartz; brothers-in-law Tim Schwartz; Pat (Dawn) Schwartz; sisters-in-law Vicky Schwartz; Kelley Cassels; and many nieces and nephews. And a long time family friend, Kay Woods. He was preceded in death by his parents. A visitation will be held from 4-7pm at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport, IL on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport, IL. Burial will be at Cedarville Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name.
