Daniel "Dan" Laning

Daniel 'Dan' Laning, 66, of German Valley died in his home on Monday January 30, 2012. Dan was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 24, 1945 the son of Gerrit and Grace (Scheltens) Laning. Dan owned and operated his own bicycle shop for 30 years. On November 15, 1997 Dan married Joanne Todd in Downers Grove, Illinois. Dan was a Vietnam Army Veteran serving form 1968-1970. He was a member of Baileyville Reformed Church and was the Director of German Valley Food Pantry. Survivors include; wife; Joanne Horton Laning of German Valley, son; John (Julie) Laning of Chicago, daughter; Jennifer (Jason) Becker of Bartlett, two step-sons; Lou Horton of North Aurora and Glenn Horton of Bartlett, brother; Gerrit (Betty) Laning of Naperville, sister; Grace (Harry) Morris of Downers Grove. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Caroline, Louie, Kyle, Christopher, Kiana, Nick and Ruby. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday February 3, 2012 at Baileyville Reformed Church. Visitation will be Thursday February 2, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Forreston. Burial will be at City Cemetery, Freeport.
