Dale Sievert, 88, of Freeport, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Manor Court in Hospice Care from respiratory complications due to Parkinson's disease. Dale was born May 15, 1928 at Traverse City, Michigan, the son of Reinhold and Elsa (Schuneman) Sievert. Dale married Janice "Jan" Monjeau on September 7, 1953 in Menomonie, Wisconsin. Dale served in the U.S. Navy Air Corp, stationed at Pensacola, Florida. He received his B.S. Industrial Arts degree from University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie, WI, and B.S. Electrical Engineering degree in 1954, from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He had an artistic capability that served his engineering career well. Dale's employers- Honeywell, Northrop, Woodward-Governor, have fractional horsepower motor patents with Dale's name as designer. Dale was an Eagle Scout and was involved in the troops of his sons, as well as Little League and the activities of his sons during those years. Dale took to retirement in 1993 with enthusiasm, doing some consulting work, taking art classes at Highland to renew his interest in painting and hung his paintings all over the house. Dale enjoyed time with Ham Radio enthusiasts, those who use this old reliable communication technology, swapped equipment, and spoke with other Hams at far reaches of the globe. Dale played a lot of golf with the Senior League, was a member of Golden K Kiwanis, Amvets, as well as Evergreen Masonic Lodge, and a member of Tebala Shrine. Dale is a member of First Lutheran Church and served on the Council and as Treasurer over the years. He is predeceased by his parents in 1993, by his brother Jim, in 2011 and by his son Roger, in 2011. Dale is survived by his wife, Jan; by his son Bob and his wife Jan, and two granddaughters, Amanda and Megan of Monument, Colorado. Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday February 11, 2017 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Johnson and Rev. Bill Blomberg will officiate. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Following the service, a gathering will take place at First Lutheran Church for lunch and time of remembrance.
