Dale O. Runte

Dale O. Runte, 88, of Freeport, and former Forreston resident, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at F.H N. Memorial Hospital. He was born July 22, 1924 in Ogle County, Illinois, the son of Oscar and Minnie (Zumdahl) Runte. Mr. Runte married Bernita Diehl on December 29, 1943 in Shannon, Illinois. Mr. Runte was a lifelong Forreston area farmer and was also employed by the Forreston Ready Mix. He was a member of Prairie Dell Presbyterian Church, Shannon. Dale enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Runte is survived by his wife, one brother Willard (Donna) Runte of Forreston, two daughters; Julie Golden of Newton, Ks. and Diane (Robert) Kuelling of Forreston, one son; Gary Runte of Forreston, six grandchildren; Tammy Love of Newton, Ks., Jonathan Bower of Newton, Ks., Mike (Vickie) Kuelling of Forreston, Mark (Sandy) Kuelling of Forreston, Monica (Friend, Jeremy Saeger) of Forreston and Luke Runte of Surprise, Az. 15 great-grandchildren; Ashley Love of Freeport, Cody Love of Freeport, Destiny Bower of Newton, Ks., Kammie Bower of Newton, Ks., Josh Kuelling of Freeport, Cassie Smith of Forreston, Kendal Kuelling of Forreston, Matthew Pasch of Forreston, Sydney Kuelling of Forreston, Morgan Pasch of Forreston, Cade Kuelling of Forreston, Alexis Kuelling of Forreston, Zachary Saeger of Forreston, Logan Runte of Surprise, Az. And Celo Runte of Surprise, Az. One great-great grandson, Wyatt Smith of Forreston. Mr. Runte was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Leona Runte, Two son in laws; Thomas Bower and Lyle Golden, and his granddaughter, Gwen Runte. Funeral services for Mr. Runte will be Thursday, 10:30 A.M. at Prairie Dell Presbyterian Church, Shannon. Rev. Donna Gerioke, pastor, will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, 4:00-7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. A memorial has been established in Dale'™s memory.
