Dale L. DeVries, 86, of Pearl City passed away peacefully Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 7:40am at The Grand Victorian in Rockford, IL. Born July 5, 1929 in Freeport, IL, the son of Eilert and Marion DeVries (Maas) and step-mother Rachel and step-father, Denzel Folkerts. Married Marilyn A. Clancy on August 7, 1955. Dale served in the United States Army and was an auctioneer in northwestern Illinois since 1949. He and his wife lived in Pearl City at 10700 West Loran Road since they were newlyweds in 1955 and raised a family there. Dale is survived by his wife Marilyn A. (Clancy) DeVries; daughters, Cynthia (Tom) Collins of Wisconsin Dells, WI Jacqueline (Glenda) DeVries of Rockford, IL, and Valerie (Joe) Polman of Stevens Point, WI; grandchildren Bryan Collins, Breyann Collins, Annaleigh Polman, Annika Polman, and Arrington Polman. Dale was a man who always put his family first. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Dale enjoyed auctioneering, the Pearl City Sale Barn and living on their farm in Pearl City. His family will always remember him as a kind, caring, and generous man. Visitation will be from 5-7pm, Friday, March 11, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Avenue, Freeport, IL. Funeral service will be at 10:00am Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with burial following at Highland Cemetery, Route 73 at the north edge of Pearl City. Immediately after, a light luncheon will be provided at the Pearl City Legion Hall, 100 North Main Street, Pearl City, IL.
