D. Geraldine Jones

D. Geraldine Jones, 88, of Minneapolis, Minnesota and former Freeport resident died July 11, 2011 at St. Olaf'™s Residence Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mrs. Jones was born July 25, 1922 in Danville, Illinois the daughter of William M. and Sarah (Smith) Fly. She married Isaac Jones, Jr. on December 8, 1945 in Freeport, Illinois. He died August 11, 1984. Mrs. Jones was employed by Burgess Battery for Twenty One years. Mrs. Jones then served as Day Care Director for Amity Day Care and Learning Center, Freeport for Twenty Five years. Mrs. Jones was a member of Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church , Freeport. Mrs. Jones was active in many civic activities. Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughter, Sarah (George R.) Shannon of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her brother, George M. Fly of Freeport. Four grandchildren; Dawn L. Shannon, Gloria G. Shannon, Chad J. (Trinia) Shannon and George J. (Shenaya) Shannon. Also, six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and two sisters. A funeral service for Mrs. Jones will be Saturday, 1:00 P.M. in Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Freeport.
