Cynthia Erwin

January 13, 1948 — September 29, 2024

Cynthia ("Cindy") Erwin, a lifelong resident of Freeport, Illinois, passed away peacefully on

September 30th, at Midwest Medical Center in Galena.

Cynthia was born January 13th, 1948, in Chicago Illinois to James and Victoria Erwin. Cynthia was a 1966 graduate of Freeport High School and employed for many years at Micro Switch and Liberty Village.

Cynthia enjoyed starting her day early in the morning and without fail, could be found at a local restaurant with a cup of coffee, two over easy eggs, and a side of toast before her workday began. Cynthia had an incredible work ethic and was known to be dependable, punctual, and rarely took a day off. Cynthia was always willing to cover a shift for a fellow co-worker or work overtime when asked.

Cynthia will be remembered as a loving and kind person who rarely met a stranger. Cynthia was known to lend a hand or open ear when in need of help or conversation.

Cynthia was an avid fan of her beloved Green Bay Packers and the Chicago White Sox and took great pleasure talking to about anything sports related even if the conversation wasn't about her "teams".

Cynthia had a special place in her heart for animals. It was of no surprise that she would rescue a stray cat, lost dog, injured bird and even a duck that she named "Mamie".

Cynthia is predeceased by her parents, James, and Victoria Erwin. She is survived by sister, Jamie Carroll (Galena), niece, Nikki Sands, (Freeport) and great niece, Farrah Sands (San Diego).

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Midwest Medical Center in Galena for their care and support to Cynthia during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Friends Forever Human Society, 966 W. Rudy Rd, Freeport IL. A cause deeply important to Cynthia.

Private funeral services are under the direction of Burke and Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 Walnut Avenue, Freeport IL. Cynthia's final resting place will be Chapel Hill Memorial Garden, Freeport IL.
