Curtis “Curt” Lynn Miller, 71 of Pearl City, IL, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 5, 2024, at his home.
Born May 27, 1953, in Freeport, IL, he was the son of Russell and Marian (Whitson) Miller. At a young age, he and two of his brothers were raised by foster parents, Norman and Rose Woker.
Curt was a life-long resident of Kent, Pearl City, and Freeport, IL area. On July 16, 1988, he was united in marriage to Pennie Shirley and was blessed with two children, William and Mollie, whom they raised on a small farm outside of Pearl City. He worked for Kelly-Springfield, Goodyear, and Titan Tire plant in Freeport, IL, retiring May 2020 having worked there for 44 years. He was a devoted Atlanta (Milwaukee) Braves fan and baseball enthusiast. He shared his love for sports by coaching youth sports, spending summers playing slow-pitch softball and organizing golf outings with friends and co-workers. He was active in the community serving on the Pearl City Park District Board and leader of the Pearl Valley Rangers 4-H Club for 26 years.
Curt is survived by his wife, Pennie; son, William Russell Miller; daughter, Mollie Lynn (Tyler) Clay; granddaughter, Parker Eslynn Clay; siblings, Steve Miller, Jim (Donna) Miller, Jeanneil Miller-Paul, Janice Scheider, and Charlie Miller; sisters-in-law, Deb Miller and Libby (Chris) Stachowiak; and brother-in-law, Randy (Connie) Shirley; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents Russell and Marian Miller, foster parents Norman and Rose Woker; in-laws, Bill and Virginia Shirley; siblings, John Miller and Maylene Miller; sisters-in-law, Pauline Miller and Rita Shirley; and brothers-in-law, Don Paul and Terry Scheider.
Celebration Life will be 11:00 am Saturday January 25, 2025, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Freeport. Visitation 9:30 am until the time of service at the church.
