Curtis E. Erving

Curtis E. Erving, 50, of Freeport, departed his earthly life on July 28, 2011 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Curtis was born on June 7, 1961 in Freeport, the son of Tonnie and Geneva (Winters) Erving. Curtis attended schools in Freeport. Curtis met and married Lynda Brown on July 17, 1992 in Freeport. He worked for Deininger'™s Floral Shop. Curtis was the father of five children, two sons; Michael Visger and Cecil Brown, three daughters; Amanda Hendricks, Angie Bledsoe and Annette Brown. Curtis loved spending time with his nieces and nephews; Sandra McClellan, Anthony McClellan, Gerald McClellan, Lisa Jordan, Stacy Cain, Carlos Erving, Charita Alexander and Irin Pruitt. He also enjoyed hanging out with his friends, keeping people laughing with the many jokes he would tell. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife; Lynda Erving of Freeport, children; Michael Visger of Lena, Cecil Brown, Amanda Hendricks, Angie (Oscar) Bledsoe and Annette Brown all of Freeport, sisters; Linda (Barnell) Shorter, Loretta (Garland) Pruitt both of Freeport, and Lynnellen Peterson of Rockford, stepsister; Vivian Pearson of Minnesota, eight grandchildren, eighteen great nieces and nephew, seventeen great-great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins and other relatives including special god mother Etta Mae Ross of Memphis, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his parents; Tonnie Erving and Geneva (Gennie) Erving, his sister; Genola (Gee) McClellan. Funeral Services will be Thursday 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Freeport with Charles Threadgill Jr. will officiate.
