Cornelius McClellan, Jr., 51 years of age passed away suddenly, Wednesday January 7, 2015 in Freeport, IL. He was born in Webb, MS. on July 8, 1963, the son of Cornelius and Eola (Newton) McClellan. He attended Academy High School in Erie, PA. He worked Construction and was a painter and a carpenter in Freeport and surrounding areas. Everyone lovingly called him "Corn". He's a fisherman's fisherman and a real life Turtle man, delivering turtles live and fresh to all of his customers. He loved his dogs. He was also an auto mechanic and professional boxer. He loved to cook and sew. He also loved bike riding, throwing darts, shooting pool and working out were some of his favorite hobbies. He resided in Freeport, IL. and Erie, PA. He accepted the Lord and he loved reading Gods word. He never met a stranger, always helping others and often putting their needs ahead of his own. Cornelius is survived by his daughter Delores McClellan; his parent, Cornelius and Eola McClellan; six brothers Henry (Debra) McClellan of Milwaukee, WI, Pastor Bobby (Sonny) McClellan of Erie, PA, Jimmy Mac Mclellan of Colorado, Jerry McClellan of Erie, PA, Joseph (Jennifer) McClellan of Minneapolis, MN, and Timothy McClellan of Kentucky; and three sisters Gloria McClellan of Erie, PA, Mary (Cedric) Winston of Meridan, MS, and Rachel McClellan of Erie, PA, Cora (Terry) Wilson of Omaha, NE., Linda (Odarrel) Houser of Chicago, Catherine McClellan of Madison, WI. and Robbie McClellan of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He especially loved his friend Reggie Goff and cousin Gerald McClellan. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Henry and Cora McClellan and Boston and Eola Newton. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday January 17, 2015 at New Jerusalem Church of God, 4 East Iroquois Street, Freeport, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Freeport City Cemetery.
