Cordelia Johnson

Cordelia Johnson departed this life on Friday, November 20, 2015 at F.H.N. Memorial Hospital. Cordelia Johnson was born on July 31, 1926 to Earnest and Lillie Mae (Logan) Anderson in West, Mississippi. She was raised along with 5 siblings. Cordelia attended school in Mississippi. Later she married William Johnson in 1944 also from West, Mississippi. Beginning their new life together, Cordelia and William raised 7 children in Freeport, Illinois. She was a faithful and dedicated member and also nurse at St. Paul's Baptist Church for many years. She worked at Brucher's Boutique also for many years as a seamstress. Throughout her life she was a loving and caring woman. Cordelia was a child of God. When she wasn't working she was around her family. In her spare time she loved to garden, cook, sew, and canned. Cordelia left to cherish her memories are her children, Linda Rice, Janet (James Fane), Mary Ann Tominson, and Robert Johnson all of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest and Lillie Mae Anderson; husband, William Johnson; son, Earnest William Johnson, Bill Johnson, Calvin Johnson; daughters, Dorothy Jean Johnson, as well as two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service of Saturday at the church.
