Connie Jean Shons

Connie Jean Shons, 68, formerly of Freeport, Il, passed into Gods loving arms on Saturday May 6, 2023 at Oak Brook Care Center in Oak Brook, IL. She was born December 13, 1954 at St. Francis Hospital in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Kenneth and Janet (Shade) Shons.

Connie graduated from Freeport Senior High School in 1972. Following graduation she attended Highland Community College. She was an active member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church in Freeport, IL for numerous years. Connie served for numerous church boards and committees. She also loved and served as a leader for Children’s Ministries and was involved in Awana for 45 years, where she advanced to the level of commander; she spoke and trained at many seminars. Connie worked at Honeywell, Contact, Tiny Tot, Wagner’s Office Supply, and Dr. Barret’s Orthodontist.

Connie is survived by her sister, Penny (Craig) LaBudde of Traverse City, MI; cousins, Michael (Evelyn) Shade and their family of Orlando, FL, Bobbi (Rick) Dykstra and their son Michael of Freeport, IL, and Janis and Jim DeWall and their family of Pecatonica, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Janet Shons.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 10, 2023 at Park Hills Evangelical Church in Freeport with Rev. Chris Stukenberg officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 P.M. Tuesday May 9, 2023 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL. A memorial has been established for The Children’s Ministry at Park Hill Evangelical Free Church in Connie’s memory.
