Colleen A. Snyder, 78, of Freeport went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family, Sunday, May 29, 2016. She was born October 10, 1937 in Freeport, Illinois the daughter of Isaac and Florence (Fluegel) Heitter. Colleen married Duane "Dewey" Snyder on September 14, 1958 in Freeport, Illinois. Mrs. Snyder was employed as a rural mail carrier for 28 years. She was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church of Freeport. Colleen enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Colleen loved playing a competitive game of euchre with her family, especially the tournaments played during the 27 years of Dells vacations. She was a fierce protector of her family and the traditions she established, and her positive spirit and strong will pushed her onward even when physically limited. Mrs. Snyder is survived by her husband, two daughters, Peggy (Jeff) Hass of Freeport and Sherri (Steve) Jasinski of Sussex, Wisconsin; two brothers, Duane Heitter of Freeport and Leon (Carol) Heitter of Ridott; eight grandchildren, Megan (Scott) Vinney, Micah (Courtney) Wilson, Jordan (Monica) Wilson, Brittany (Jay) Zimmerman, Austin (Erica Brendemuehl) Wilson, Kelsey, Hannah and Zachary Jasinski; nine great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and In-laws. Mrs. Snyder was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bobby and LaVerne; and two sisters, Jean and Carolyn. Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:00 A.M. at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will Wednesday, 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, Freeport. Visitation will also be from 9:00 A.M. until time of service Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
