Christopher M. Branscomb

Christopher M. Branscomb, 41, of Rockford, died Wednesday October 5, 2016 in his home. Christopher was born December 29, 1974 in Rockford, the son of Sherry (King) Conter and Calvin E. Branscomb. He attended both Forreston and Leaf River Schools where he played football, basketball and baseball. He loved watching as many football games as he could with the Chicago Bears always being his favorite. Chris enjoyed spending his free time outdoors, fishing and being with his family. Chris was employed as a welder for many years. Surviving are his mother, Sherry (Melvin) Conter; father, Calvin Branscomb of Loves Park; son, Danny Knaub of Leaf River; daughter, Cassandra Sturtevant of Machesney Park; two sisters, Jamie (Shawn) Howald of Machesney Park and Nikkie (Jeff) Meador of Lanark; grandmother, Vera Carlson of Freeport; and step-grandmother, Cheryl King. Also surviving are two grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Christopher was preceded in death by grandmother and grandfather, Paul and Darlene Branscomb; and grandfather Robert King. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday October 11, 2016 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, Forreston. Rev. Scott Ralston will officiate. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be at Lightsville Cemetery in Leaf River.
