Chester L Gantz

Chester L. Gantz, 89, formerly of Florence Station, died at FHN Memorial Hospital on Wednesday. Chester was born May 1, 1921 in Stephenson County the son of Edward and Jenny (Allen) Gantz. Chester married Alyce A. Buss on September 27, 1941. Alyce died on May 1, 2004. Chester farmed the Florence Station area for many years before retiring in 1984 and moving to Haines City, Florida. Chester was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Survivors include; son, Larry (Dixie) Gantz of Bakersville, North Carolina, two sisters; Norma Robieson of Lena and Irene Boland of Lena. Also surviving are one granddaughter Lori Szczepaniak of Chesapeake, Virginia and two great grandsons Alex and Kevin also of Chesapeake. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and three sisters. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday January 21, 2011 at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home, with Dr. Rev. Willis Schwichtenberg, Rev. Richard 'Ros' Schultz and Vicar Brian Weaver officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs.
