Charlotte Mcginnis

February 15, 1931 — August 10, 2019

Charlotte McGinnis, 88, left this earth to be with God on August 10, 2019, with her family at her side. Charlotte was born in Freeport, IL to Elmer Rademaker and Ella Gastel Rademaker. She graduated from Aquin High School in 1948, and married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence McGinnis, at St. Joseph Catholic Church on May 24, 1950. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in June of 2000. They were blessed with five children, and Charlotte stayed home with them as they grew up. She then worked at the Carl Sandburg school cafeteria from 1977 to 1982, and for Dr. Raymond Alberts and Dr. Wendall Cox at the Freeport Eye Clinic until her retirement in 1993. Most important to Charlotte were her husband, her children and grandchildren, who brought great joy and love to her life. She gladly attended the many activities of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband, and watching the Green Bay Packers with him. She also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with her family and friends, and was in one card club for 46 years. She and her husband participated in Perpetual Adoration from its beginning, and she was a coordinator as well for many years. Charlotte was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Her faith was very important to her. Surviving Charlotte are her children: Kathy (Dewey) Sies of Freeport, IL, Daughter-in-law Patti McGinnis of Tunnel Hill, IL, Mary (Dan) Swearengen of Branson, MO, Tim (Ellen) McGinnis of Freeport, IL and Maureen Kornfeind of Freeport, IL.
