Charlotte M. Peterson

Charlotte M. Peterson, 89, a resident of Anam Care Center, Rockford, Illinois and former Freeport resident died on Tuesday, December 24, at Anam. She was born June 26, 1924 in Los Angeles, Ca., the daughter of Chris and Minnie (Fimreite) Norby. On February 14, 1953 Charlotte married Curtis Owen Peterson in Los Angeles, Ca. He died May 4, 2009 Mr. and Mrs. Peterson started a longtime work career with A & W Restaurants. From 1957 to 1962, they owned and operated an A & W in Wabash, Ind. In 1962 they moved to Freeport and owned and operated the A & W Restaurant in Freeport until 1989. Mrs. Peterson was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Freeport. Charlotte and her family especially enjoyed spending time at heir condo in Palm Springs, Ca. Charlotte is survived by two sons, Jeffrey George Peterson of Franklin Park, Illinois, and James Owen (Jane) of Forsyth, Illinois; her grandson, Jared (Kristine) Gambrill of Niantic, Ill., four great-grandchildren, Spencer, Travis, Jackson, and Josie. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregg Peterson, D.D.S. who died in 1999. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 26, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Ave., Freeport, Illinois. A funeral service will be held on Friday, 1:30 P.M. in Schiefelbein Funeral Home, Osseo, Wisconsin. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Strum, Wisconsin.
