Chad A. Casavant, 33, formerly of Freeport, died suddenly on Monday October 3, 2011, at his home in Des Moines, Iowa. Chad was the only son of Andrew and Christine (Hybiak) Casavant. Chad was born on October 5, 1977 in Urbana, Illinois. Chad was an avid sports fan for football, baseball and basketball. Cheering his beloved Chicago Bears, Cubs, and Bulls. He was almost always wearing a Chicago Bears or Cubs sweatshirt, showing off his fandom he held for his home teams. When he wasn'™t watching sports he would spend his free time sketching amazing characters and works of art, drawing inspiration from his love of comics, fantasy, and science fiction. An immensely talented and passionate artist, his dream was to one day become a published and industry renowned comic illustrator. He was able to bring characters and stories to life with little more than a paper and pencil. Chad graduated from Freeport High School and Iowa State University where he played football and earned his bachelor'™s degree in Fine Arts. After graduation he remained in Des Moines, Iowa where he worked as a manager at Jay'™s CD & Hobby Store while continuing to hone his skills and creativity as an artist. He loved his job, craft, and especially his family and friends who will dearly miss him. Survivors include father; Andrew Casavant, sister; Andrea Casavant, and grandmother Joan Hybiak. Preceded in death by his mother Christine Casavant. Funeral Services will be 7:00 P.M. Friday October 7, 2011, at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service at Burke Tubbs. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in his memory.
