Celeste Allen

Celest Allen, 77, a former long-time resident of the Freeport, died Wednesday January 6, 2016 at West Suburban Medical Center in Chicago, IL following an extended illness. Born June 15, 1938 in Rich, Mississippi to the late Pate and Virginia Allen. Former member of New St. Martin Baptist Church in Freeport. She was employed by Stephenson Nursing Center for many years until 1988 when she was forced into retirement due to health issues. Survivors include five daughters: Mildred (Michael) Miles of Chicago, IL, Lu Ann (Richard) Sigmond of Joliet, IL, Cherry (Anthony) Burrell, Debra Allen, and Celestine Allen all of Freeport, IL. Seven sons: Larry Allen of Freeport, IL, Thomas (Huetta) Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, James Anderson Jr. of Freeport, IL, Robert (Patricia) Allen of Freeport, IL, Ronnie Allen of Freeport, IL, Tyrone Allen of Rockford, IL and Tyrane (Rolonda) Allen of Freeport, IL. Two sisters: Nancy (Julius) Winston and Erma (Joe) Williams both of Freeport, IL. Two brothers: Andrew (Andrian) Allen and Lorenzo (Constance) Allen both of Freeport, IL also 43 grandchildren, 94 greatgrandchildren, 18 great great-grandchildren and special best friend Marcia Morris, She was preceded in death by: Her parents Pate and Virginia Allen, Special friend William Frazier, one daughter: Lizzie Allen, two sisters: Mary Allen and Elizabeth Thompson-Cooper, four brothers: Willie Allen, William Allen, Columbus Allen and Sonny Allen and two grandsons: Walter Roberts Jr. and Robbie Williams Jr. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday January 16, 2016 at Faith Center (203 W. Pleasant St. Freeport, IL) with Rev. Michael Sowell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church.
