Cecil Allen Pearson, 61, of Freeport, was called home to rest on Sunday February 1, 2015 at F.H.N. Memorial Hospital. Cecil was born on October 29, 1953, the son of Henry and Della (Marrable) Pearson. He graduated from Freeport Senior High School class of 1971. He married Rhonda Elem and they were blessed with two daughters. Cecil was a proud veteran of the United States military where he served distinguishably in the US Air Force and the US Navy Reserve. Cecil never let grass grow under his feet. He obtained a certificate of cosmetology from Atlanta Area Tech and was a neighborhood barber for family and friends. In the past he worked for Newell Companies, JB Hunt, City of Freeport and also provided haircare at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home. Cecil was also proud of being a founding member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he was a trustee. He attended faithfully until he began having health issues. He was also a member of Mystic Tie Lodge 002, Freeport NAACP, and served on the ARDC. Cecil enjoyed traveling and was always ready to ride when someone needed at traveling companion. He has visited many of the states from coast to coast. He mostly enjoyed being around family and talking about the good old days and listening to music. Cecil also liked to cook using his own homemade spices (which mo matter how he mixed them they turned out to be HOT!) Cecil will be missed but always loved by his wife of 41 years, Rhonda; two daughters, Tabitha (Tyrice) Edwards of Garland, TX. and Chandra R. Pearson of Maywood, IL; four grandsons, Tyrell, RaSean, Tyrie & Kyrie Allen all of Maywood; two brothers, Eric and Marvin Pearson of Freeport; one sister, Paula (Michael Jones) of Hoffman Estates; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Garland Pearson; and sisters Julia King and Jacquelyn Pearson. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Ricky Stidmon will officiate. Visitation will be form 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Friendship Missionary Baptist. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
