Cathrine Anne Rieke Hagen, 87, died November 2, 2019 at Parkview Home in Freeport, IL. She was born on February 20, 1932 in Pipestone, MN to Elmer and Grace (Rutherford) Rieke. She graduated from Wells High School, Wells, MN in 1950 and went on to the Naeve School of Nursing in Albert Lea, MN, graduating in 1953. She worked as a registered nurse at Naeve Hospital, Director of Nursing and later Administrator at Parkview Nursing Home in Wells, MN. She ran a tight ship and was well respected by her staff. In retirement she worked part-time for Naeve Fountain Centers with the Older Adult Program. On February 1, 1954 she married Wallace Hagen, after a whirlwind courtship. They were married 45 years until Wally's death in 1999. She loved flowers and plants; and was known for her beautiful flower gardens. She also loved to travel, most often visiting her children and grandchildren. She had an artistic flair, was creative and liked decorating her home. One of her favorite things was coffee break with friends and family. Cathrine is survived by her loving children: Chad Hagen and wife, Janet, Fraser, CO; Lael Hagen and husband John Denne, Penasco, NM; Holly Petersen and husband David, Freeport, IL; and son-in-law Bill Quant, Erlanger, KY. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Anthony Quant and wife Brandy Jacobs, Upper Sandusky, OH; Richard Quant and wife Brittany, Florence, KY; Hannah Hagen, Denver, CO; Landon Hagen, Minneapolis, MN; Patrick Denne, Albuquerque, NM; Elizabeth Petersen, Macomb, IL and Lucas Petersen, Freeport, IL; and her brother David Rieke and wife Susan, Port Isabel, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Alane Quant and sister Ruth Utzman. Cathrine will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 14 at Open Doors United Methodist Church in Wells, MN. A memorial fund has been established.
