Catherine E. O'Mara

Catherine E. O'Mara (Nee Shuhert), born July2, 1914-August 1, 2015. Catherine was born in Richardsville, Iowa on her family farm. She married Fred O'Mara of Dubuque, Iowa in 1938 and they moved to Freeport in 1945 when Fred bought what is now O'Mara Moving and Storage. During her active life Catherine raised two children, was both a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Girl Scout Leader. She was a Gray Lady at St. Francis Hospital and sodality member of St. Joseph's Church for over 70 years. Catherine was a sponsor of the Sleezer Home for dependent and neglected children. An avid volunteer, bowler, gardener, dancer, and euchre player. She is survived by her children: Mike (Sally) O'Mara of Madison, WI, and her daughter Karen Jurewiez of St. Paul, MN, eight grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday August 4, 2015 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Church in Freeport with Father John Paisley officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A special thanks go out to St. Jude's hospice and Sienna Crest Assisted Living in Waunakee, WI. Memorials may be made out to the donors preference.
