Caroline Schramm, 83, of Freeport, died Tuesday July 1, 2014 at FHN Memorial Hospital. Caroline was born on December 22, 1930 in Freeport, the daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Undieme) DiMaggio. Caroline married Wilfred "Bill" Schramm on October 17, 1959 in Freeport. Caroline was born and raised in Freeport. She was a librarian and secretary for Freeport School District 145 for over 30 years retiring in 2002. Caroline was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where she was an active member. She enjoyed cooking Italian food in her free time and most of all spending time with all of her family. Surviving are her husband, Bill Schramm of Freeport; two daughters, Nancy (Rick) McIntyre of Plant City, Florida and Mary (Kevin) Schoeben of Springfield, IL; six grandchildren, Joshua (Katelyn) Sturtevant, Jeremiah (Nakita) Sturtevant, Patrick Schoeben, Stephanie Schoeben, Savannah Schoeben, and Jonathan Schoeben. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Paige, Eli, Haidan, and Gabriella. Preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Joseph D. DiMaggio and Salvatore DiMaggio. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday July 4, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Father Kenneth Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Burke Tubbs with a scripture service beginning at 3:30 p.m. There will also be a visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Thomas.
