Carol L. St Clair, 66, a resident of Neighbors Rehabilitation Center, Byron died Thursday in Swedish American Hospital, Rockford. following an extended illness. She was born February 25, 1944 in Freeport, the daughter of LeRoy A. and Esther (Ruthe) Hagemann. Carol married Gerald St. Clair on August 6, 1994 in Freeport. Carol was employed by Newell Companies and then was employed by the United States Post Office in Freeport from 1984-2002. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Freeport. Carol enjoyed word puzzles, crafts, spending time with her grandchildren and especially following their sporting events. In addition to her husband she is survived by her mother, Esther Hagemann of Forreston. Two daughters; Kelly (Joel Trujillo) Ramos of Elgin and Kris (Aaron) Ortiz of Beloit, Wisconsin. Two sisters; Phyllis Sigley of Byron and LeAnn (Gary) Ross of German Valley. Her brother, Gary (Diane) Hagemann of Freeport. Four grandchildren; Brianna, Sierra and Sydney Ortiz and Lucero Ramos. One step-daughter, Melanie (Mark) Davidson of New York, New York. One step-son, Mark (Cherie ) St. Clair of Rockford. Also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, maternal and paternal grandparents, her granddaughter, Molly Loss in 1994 and her brother in law, Dale Koertner. Funeral service for Mrs. St. Clair will be Monday, 2:00 P.M. in Trinity United Methodist Church, Freeport. Rev. Julie Bunt, pastor will officiate. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. A memorial has been established in her name.
