Carol J. Meier

Carol J. Meier, 85, of Freeport, died Sunday November 20, 2016 at Manor Court of Liberty Village. She was born November 6, 1931 in Freeport, IL, the daughter of Don and Helen (Cram) Bolender. She married Harold G. Meier June 7, 1952 in Freeport, IL; he died July 1, 2011. Carol worked for Jupiter and K-Mart department stores, and Western States Insurance Company. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary Club. She enjoyed poetry and sewing. She was a breast cancer survivor. Carol is survived by her four daughters Patricia (Tom Abel) of LeClaire, IA, Catherine (Tom) Diddens and Donna (David) Blair all of Freeport, IL, and Diana (Greg) Clark of Monticello, WI; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister Joann. Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Friday November 25 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Blomberg officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established for the Leonard Ferguson Cancer Center.
