Carmie E. Franklin, 80, of Freeport, IL went Home to her Savior Monday March 29, 2021 in her home. She was born November 24, 1940 in Sterling, IL to Walter and Helen (Finkle) White. On May 24, 1959 she married Larry Franklin in Hazelhurst, IL. She was active in church ministries in Milledgeville and worked for the Vet Clinic and secretary for Dutchtown Church of the Brethren. In 1973, family moved to Sycamore and remained until both daughters graduated, then 1981 transferred to Freeport. She began working for Dr. Linden until his passing as housekeeper and cook, and later as CNA for elderly home care. Carmie was a member of First Baptist Church where she had true enjoyment working with Meals-On-Wheels, helping in Awana, Mission Board, playing handbells, and assisting behind the scenes with many fellowships and funerals. Currently she attended Park Hills Evangelical Free Church and treasured her Thursday evening small prayer group. She enjoyed shopping and reading. A fan of Michael Jordan, the Cubs, and Nascar driver Joey Logano. Larry and Carmie would listen to Rush Limbaugh together and watch Fox News every day. Most of all Carmie was proud spending time with her family, grandkids and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Larry of Freeport; daughter Carla (Brian) Myers of Freeport; brother Van White of Dixon, IL; four grandchildren Michael Myers of Freeport, David Myers of Bloomington, IL, Nikki (Will) Schmidt of Sycamore, IL and Leizle Myers (Freeport); five great-grandchildren Aaron & Carlo Delavin, Phillip Myers (Freeport), Dane & Wyatt Schmidt (Sycamore), close friends Mary Clever of Dixon, IL and Pat Barr of Freeport; and her two furry friends McKenzie and Mandy. Carmie is preceded in death by her parents, step-father Rex Woodin, daughter Lauri, twin son Vance, and two sisters BeBe and Lois Gene. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday April 10, 2021 at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Mark Balmer officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, IL. A memorial has been established in her memory.
