Carl W. Drehmer

Carl W. Drehmer, 84, formerly of Shannon, IL passed away on December 27, 2024 at WinnPrairie Assisted Living in Freeport, IL. Carl was born February 2, 1940 in Lyndon the son of William Sr. and Jeannette (Taylor) Drehmer. Throughout his career he worked for the railroad, in construction, was shop foreman for Ford New Holland, drove truck for Rogers Forreston-Lanark Ready Mix and Fischers before retiring October 1, 2009. He married Patricia A. Sheridan on December 17, 1960 at St. Wendelin's Catholic Church in Shannon. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2023.

Carl along with his wife Pat were devoted and active members of St. Wendelin's Catholic Church. They would volunteer at the thrift store in Savanna and at the Shannon Food Pantry. Carl was a past member of the Lion's Club in Shannon, IL. He also enjoyed bowling and playing softball. Even after retirement Carl continued helping local businesses and farmers in many ways. Most of all Carl cherished spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Carl is survived by his three children, Edward Drehmer of Freeport, IL, Denise Vance of Pearl City, IL, and Robin (Mark) Spielmann of Lena, IL; 6 grandchildren, Madelyn Drehmer, Stacey (Zane) Russell, Shelley (Kody) Larem, Ryan (Rachel) Vance, Ashley (Tyler) Ryan, Joshua (Brittany) Becker; 9 great grandchildren, Zayden & Boden Russell, Winifred and Eira Vance, Hadley and Eleanor Ryan, Jace, Finley and Sadie Becker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Patricia, one daughter, Debra Larem; son-in-law, Dennis Vance; two siblings William Drehmer Jr and Sandra Holcomb.

At his request, no services will be held. His final resting place will be Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport, IL. Condolences may be shared at www.burketubbs.com.
