Carl Joseph Schwartz

Carl Joseph Schwartz, 60, of Freeport, died Tuesday May 15, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 1, 1958 in Oak Park, IL, the son of Elmer and Dorothy (Peterson) Schwartz. He married Teresa Bawinkel May 18, 1991 in Freeport, IL; she died November 13, 2004. Carl worked as a carpenter at R-Squared Building Components. He was a member of the Freeport Eagles Club. He was a well known guitar player, playing in the bands Transit and Master Plan. Carl is survived by his son, Miles (Melissa Galor) Schwartz of Freeport, IL; two daughters, Natalie (Christopher) Rundall of Marion, IA, and Haley Schwartz of Champaign, IL; two sisters, Erika Schwartz and Carolyn (Scott) Reeser; mother-in-law, Eloise Zumdahl of Freeport, IL; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday May 19, 2018 at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church in Freeport with Sean Huguenin, Chaplain of FHN Hospice officiating. Visitation will be from 3-7:00 P.M. Friday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Carl's memory.
